all the way

All The Way: It rained all the way, but it still was a beautiful day. The rain showers continued all night. Even so, there was a feeling of joy in my heart. It is up to me as to how I allow external forces cause me to feel.

I can look beyond the wet slippery road. I continue driving on. One mile leads to the next, and the final mile takes me home. If my trip is cut short, then so be it. I have left the house clean and orderly just in case I never enter it again.

I have several complaints, but my children are not among them. No one is fault free. Who am I to judge when the picture of my life is mirrored before my eyes?

Another few feet and the downpour is so heavy I can hardly see. I should stop and wait it out, but the wait is longer than I want. Not that I am in a rush to get home because when I am at home, I am all alone.

I am on a mission. My mission is to place one mile ahead of me and one mile behind me. I will do this until there are no more miles to travel. I have been beaten over the head with speeding tickets. So, I will keep that in mind as I regulate my speed.

Nonetheless, the highway is mine as long as the gas, the engine, and the tires hold out. This is a drive consisting of nonstop heavy to light rainfall, but no gusts of wind. In its own rainy way, the drive is enjoyable.

rainy

The traffic is lighter because many people have pulled into rest areas or have exited the highway. For distances, it is just me and the windshield wipers moving along. Peace is where you make it. It is not where you find it. Peace is a state of mind, not an object like a candy rabbit pulled out of a hoodie.

All drive long during the rainy season being careful not to hydroplane. Going light on the brakes so as not to cause my tires to lose their grip. Being watchful of anyone driving with their rear lights off. Timing the wiper speed to see ahead of me as best I can.

What a nice drive with the visit with my children as a sweet memory to take me along the way.
